Ramadan, Life During Lockdown

Hello everyone, my name is Nariman Ismaail. I am a Youth & Community Support worker at Trowbridge future. Today I will be discussing my experiences in Ramadan 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Due to COVID-19, this year the holy month of Ramadan’s atmosphere was different because as per government guidelines I had to stay at home. I could not visit the mosque to pray Al-Taraweeh prayers until this day whereby it remains closed. I more often during Ramadan get together with my friends to prepare food for (iftar) to break our fasting, have regular quran sittings, and to have an overall sense of close community feeling and atmosphere that due to circumstances was not fulfilled this year. As an alternative I have been in contact with my friends via Whatsapp throughout Ramadan.
