I started Trowbridge future when I was only 10 years old, I discovered The Shires Hub while a craft café was taking place, and I never turned back. I have been attending weekly youth meetings for the past 5 years and the staff have always been kind and welcoming and will listen to and support you whenever you have a problem. During the pandemic in 2020, the youth workers proceeded to support the young people, by hosting zoom meetings and delivering activities to our door. This helped myself and others make it through lockdown with a positive attitude and I will forever be thankful for them.
Recently, Trowbridge future youth opened a new area in Mill Street, which has a larger capacity. Therefore, more young people can be supported which I think is amazing. Youth club has always been one of my favourite times of the week and it has given me many opportunities such as partnering with the National Theatre for Trowbridge’s section of ‘The Odyssey’ in 2023.
I’ve recently had the privilege to volunteer at the new Trowbridge Future building in the shires and I have already learned so much. Attendants of The Hub have mentioned that Trowbridge future is ‘A positive place where you can come for help, or just to spend time with other people.’
I believe volunteering is a perfect way to learn and help your community. It gives you a chance to meet other people who have similar interests than you. Plus, the feeling of pride when you assist your community is like no other, and I really recommend you volunteer for your community at least once in your life, it’s the most fulfilling thing I have ever done and I cant wait to help out more in the future.
