University student joins our team

Updated: Dec 12

We are delighted to be hosting Eden Hobbs, an Undergraduate Social Sciences student from the University of Bath, who is on placement with us for the next year. Eden is helping us to deliver our community services and evaluate their impact.

"It is heartening to see so many people feel comfortable to reach out to us for help, and I am proud to be part of a team that provides a safe and welcoming space for those in need."

Eden tells us more about her role:-

What is a placement year?

"A placement year occurs before your final year at University and offers students valuable experience, which is essential for understanding the job application and interview processes, as well as what it’s like to work in a professional environment.

"Students can engage with a diverse range of organizations, including large corporations, charities, educational institutions, and government agencies."

Tell us more about your evaluation work

"During my time at Trowbridge Future, I'll be conducting an evaluation of services. This involves administering surveys, conducting interviews, and facilitating focus groups with our service users to better understand their experiences of accessing support.

"This research is crucial for identifying the needs of our community, the challenges they face, and how we can effectively advocate for our most vulnerable members. Community involvement is welcomed, and people can participate by visiting our hubs and engaging in our research activities, whether during our craft and kindness cafes or simply by dropping by one of our hubs."

How are you finding your placement experience so far?

"I am thoroughly enjoying my placement at Trowbridge Future. It has been incredibly rewarding to connect with the local community and contribute to the organization’s impactful initiatives, collaborating with both our community and youth teams.

"I have been surprised by the significant volume of need within the community, as many individuals are facing financial, mental, and physical challenges due to barriers in accessing support and resources."
